\u2018Mayken\u2019 is a music the\u00ada\u00adtre per\u00adfor\u00adman\u00adce inspi\u00adred by the for\u00adgot\u00adten sto\u00adry of Mayken Verhulst, matri\u00adarch of the Brueghel fami\u00adly and one of the gre\u00ada\u00adtest fema\u00adle artists of the 16th cen\u00adtu\u00adry. However, all of her own pain\u00adtings and mini\u00ada\u00adtu\u00adres have been lost. The per\u00adfor\u00adman\u00adce depicts the absen\u00adce of women in his\u00adto\u00adry and the emo\u00adti\u00adons such a void evo\u00adkes. Veroline Vanderbeek and Abel Baeck port\u00adray Mayken as a hybrid figu\u00adre, con\u00adscious of her own dis\u00adap\u00adpe\u00ada\u00adran\u00adce from his\u00adto\u00adry as she speaks, sings and shouts a con\u00adtem\u00adpo\u00adra\u00adry con\u00adfes\u00adsi\u00adon accom\u00adpa\u00adnied by elec\u00adtro\u00adnic music. The the\u00ada\u00adtre per\u00adfor\u00adman\u00adce forms a dip\u00adtych with a whi\u00adte cube ver\u00adsi\u00adon for muse\u00adums, brin\u00adging Mayken to her righ\u00adteous pla\u00adce after more than five centuries. <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
